Problems with Electricity Prices

I'll tell you the problem with electricity prices: it feels as if they just keep on rising - which is probably because they do!

The same applies to gas bills, water charges and council tax - which means that the cost of actually running a home is becoming more expensive all the time. And that's before you factor in rent or mortgage payments...

Perhaps less vital in terms of living - but still a "must have"for any home - are a phone line, digital television and broadband. Of course, all of these come at a cost.

So, before you even think of getting a fast Internet connection, you have to check the latest electricity prices and build up an idea of what you can afford - you might want to use a calculator for that.

With rising living costs, it's no surprise that the amount of young people setting up their first home has declined recently.

To pay for all these services, and to actually have some sort of social life, is extremely tough on the low wages that the majority of young people who are flying the nest earn.

So, until gas and electricity prices become more affordable and the current recession comes to an end, it's likely that there will be a number of stressful households in the UK. Not just because of angst-ridden young folk, but equally because of their parents who are keen to create a guest bedroom!
